Are you at a cross roads today?
Many of my clients are on the threshold of multiple crossroads at present and this creates a unique type of tension in the body.
Because your soul points the path to expansion and freedom.
But the body screams for SAFETY!
Biologically, we are wired for safety.
That drive is older than thought itself, older than personality and almost anything else about us.
Your soul, on the other hand, is already free.
It doesn’t need to earn its freedom or search for it because it already IS that.
What it actually wants is for your body, your one wild, precious, embodied life, to experience that same freedom at a deeper and deeper level.
But here is the truth: safety always wins.
Every time.
If there is no foundation of safety in the body, freedom cannot actually be lived.
It can only be pretended.
And we are remarkably creative at pretending.
Sometimes it looks like constant scrolling, chasing the next adventure, seeking one thrill after another, or traveling the world in search of a feeling that never quite arrives and stays.
From the outside, it looks like freedom.
It photographs beautifully.
But underneath it, the nervous system is still running, searching, still not settled, because movement was never actually the same thing as freedom.
And sometimes, just as often, it looks like the opposite.
It looks like not committing to the work that would actually be good for you, the relationship that is genuinely wholesome, supportive, and steady.
Something in you keeps that good thing at arm’s length, not because it isn’t right, but because true commitment requires a kind of safety you haven’t yet built.
So instead, you keep circling something solid, without ever actually landing in it.
Both are the same pattern a body that has not yet found real safety, trying to manufacture the feeling of freedom without the foundation underneath it.
Why the Brain Wants Safety
Before you had a personality, or a single conscious thought, your nervous system was already learning how to detect danger.
The earliest primitive reflex a human develops isn’t the startle reflex most people have heard of, the Moro reflex.
It’s one that comes before it: the Fear Paralysis Reflex, thought to emerge somewhere around 9 weeks into gestation.
Long before a baby can think, feel loved, or understand a single word, its nervous system is already capable of one thing: registering threat, and freezing in response to it.
This means the very first capacity your nervous system ever developed, before joy, before connection, before curiosity, was fear.
Not because you were broken or unlucky.
Fear is what keeps a developing human alive long enough to develop everything else.
It is the foundation the rest of you was built on top of.
That imprint doesn’t disappear once you’re born.
It becomes the operating system underneath everything else you learn, every “don’t,” every people-pleasing habit, every time you shrink yourself to keep the peace.
Your brain isn’t malfunctioning when it prioritises safety over almost everything else.
It’s running the oldest program it has, and it will keep running until your very last breath.
Your amygdala, the tiny alarm system in your brain, is constantly scanning: am I safe, do I belong, will I be rejected.
And when it senses danger, real or perceived, it overrides your dreams, your intuition, your creativity, and your courage, because as far as your nervous system is concerned, survival always outranks self-expression.
The Soul Was Never Waiting for Permission
Your soul isn’t waiting on the outcome of that scan.
It was never trapped by it in the first place, it is, and always has been, free.
What it wants isn’t freedom for itself.
It wants your body to stop settling for the pretend version, and finally catch up to what’s already true underneath the fear.
This is why the ache doesn’t go away, no matter how well you’ve built a controlled, “safe-looking” life.
It shows up as restlessness in a life that looks perfect on paper.
As the pull to run somewhere else the moment things get steady.
As a resistance to the very stability you say you want.
That ache was never a flaw in you.
It’s your soul, reminding your body there’s a deeper freedom available, one that doesn’t require running away from anything at all.
Why Safety Has To Come First
Here is the part almost nobody explains properly: freedom without safety isn’t actually freedom.
It’s bravado, or it’s avoidance, both are the nervous system managing fear, dressed up to look like something braver.
This matters enormously for women in particular.
So many women say they want freedom, want to be free, want to live audaciously, but their bodies are still asking a much older, more basic question first: how do I not get hurt today.
Until that question is genuinely answered, any “freedom” sitting on top of it is often just performance, a costume worn over an unresolved alarm system.
This is one of the real differences I’ve noticed between how fear tends to organise itself in women and in men.
For many women, the deepest fear sits at the level of physical safety itself, the body’s most basic question, older than ambition, older than confidence: will I be safe.
For many men, the deepest fear often sits at the level of the social self, the fear of humiliation, of being laughed at, of losing status in front of others.
Different fears, same underlying mechanism: an old survival program quietly deciding what you’re actually allowed to do.
A nervous system that still feels endangered cannot produce real freedom.
It can only produce a convincing impression of it, restless movement, or careful avoidance, depending on which direction fear happens to push.
Real freedom, the kind your soul already knows, only becomes something your body can actually live once its alarm has genuinely been allowed to stand down.
The Greatest Freedom Is Becoming Yourself
After 25 years of working with thousands of people, I have discovered something profound: the greatest healing happens when we stop fighting ourselves.
When we stop trying to become someone we think we should be, and begin returning to who we actually are.
Authenticity is not about being perfect.
It is about being whole.
It means saying what is true for you, trusting your own inner wisdom, honouring your needs, having boundaries without guilt, following your own path even when others do not understand, allowing yourself to be seen.
And yes: staying, when staying is actually the brave thing to do.
Because every time you abandon yourself, whether by fleeing or by refusing to land, a part of your life force goes with it.
The Question Is
Where are you pretending to be free, rather than actually building the safety that would let you be free?
Are you the one who keeps running, or the one who keeps circling, never quite landing in the good thing that’s right in front of you?
The Miracle Method helps uncover the subconscious programs that keep these patterns running by going beneath the surface, beyond the conscious mind, to discover what created this fear, where the pattern began, and what your body genuinely needs to feel safe enough to finally stop pretending, and start actually living free.

Your Next Step
The Miracle Method™ 7-Day Immersion is where this work actually happens, not as information to understand, but as a lived experience in your own body.
The next Immersion runs Saturday 7 November till Friday 13 November 2026, at Purple House Estate, Tasmania.
The group stays intentionally small, so each person receives the depth this work deserves.
You can find all the details and reserve your place here: www.themiraclemethod.com.au, or call my team on 03 6428 3007.
Because you were never meant to spend your life fighting yourself.
You were meant to come home to yourself.
The next chapter of your life does not require you to become someone new.
It requires you to release everything that was never truly you.
