I believe there is no such thing as “random” in our Universe.
Last night, completely out of the blue, I was hit with gripping abdominal pain.
I needed a hot bath, something for nausea, and an emergency treatment from Caleb before my body finally settled enough so I could sleep.
This morning, my sister reminded me that today is the anniversary of our mum’s death.
Twenty-four years ago, I sat beside my mother as she died.
She died in agony from an acute bowel blockage.
Your body remembers things the mind has forgotten.
Have you ever experienced something like this?
You suddenly feel emotional on a certain date, without knowing why.
You have a dream about someone you haven’t thought about for years.
You walk into a room, meet someone, smell something, hear a song and instantly your whole body reacts.
Your mind says, “This makes no sense.”
But your intuition says, “I know this.”
The body has its own memory.
It stores experiences, emotions, sensations, and patterns long after our conscious mind has moved on.
And the funny thing is that yesterday I finished an article on the Mother Wound.
Now, before we go any further, I want to make something very clear.
This is not about blaming your mother.
Most mothers do the best they can with the awareness, resources, and wounds they themselves carry.
The Mother Wound is not about pointing fingers.
It is about understanding the very first place where you learned:
- Am I safe?
- Am I lovable?
- Am I allowed to have needs?
- Do I belong?
Because your first relationship was with your mother.
Before you had words, beliefs, personality, you experienced life through your mum.
She was your first home.
You literally originated inside her body and gave you your first experience of love, safety, nourishment, and belonging.
And whether we realise it or not, those early experiences become part of our operating blueprint.

This is why it is called the Original Wound.
It is the first place where many of us learned what love meant.
A child is designed for connection.
Now if you as an infant, see your mum struggling, losing control, feeling upset, angry or hurt, the child concluded: Something is wrong with me.
Perhaps I am too much.
I am a burden, an inconvenience, a pest, I am bad.
Maybe I need to be good to be loved.
I need to earn my place.
I don’t deserve love.
I don’t deserve to exist.
But if I make myself very useful, perhaps I will be loved.
Or if I become very succesful, I will finally belong.
I will matter.
Only then will I be valuable.
You see how it gets all mixed up inside the child?
And adults are really just little children dressed up into an adult body suit.
Most adults have the emotional IQ of a four-year-old when they are under stress.
The Mother Wound doesn’t just show up in your relationship with your mother.
It shows up everywhere.
Especially in the areas where you are trying hardest to create something.
How the Mother Wound Shows Up in Your Life
Have you ever noticed that you could create success in one area of your life.
but another area just seems to keep glitching?
You understand what you “should” do, you become more disciplined, work harder at it and yet something keeps pulling you backwards.
This is often where we need to look deeper.
Because the original wound can sit underneath the things we are trying to create.
Money
Maybe you desperately want financial peace.
You work hard.
You give enormous value.
You are intelligent and capable.
But somehow money doesn’t stay.
Or every time you get ahead, something happens.
A bill appears.
An emergency happens.
You sabotage your own growth.
Why?
Because underneath the desire for abundance may be an unconscious belief:
- “I am only valuable when I am giving.”
- “I am not allowed to receive.”
- “I have to work hard to deserve success.”
But receiving requires a completely different belief: I am worthy before I produce.
Relationships
The Mother Wound can appear as constantly putting others first.
You become brilliant at reading people, ironing out the wrinkles and anticipating needs.
You fix problems, become the emotional caretaker and always remain the strong one.
But underneath may be an old agreement: “If I am useful enough, needed enough, loving enough, I will finally feel chosen.”
This is the hidden bargain many people live with.
The problem is that you can spend your entire life trying to earn something that was always meant to be freely given.
Love.
Success
Many high-achieving people are not driven by inspiration.
They are driven by proving that they are enough, that they matter, that they deserve their place in the world.
And they can become incredibly successful, while secretly feeling exhausted and empty.
Because achievement can never heal a wound that says: “I am only valuable because of what I do.”
The deeper wound is not always: “I wasn’t loved.”
The deeper wound is: “I learned my value came from what I could do instead of who I was.”
Health
This is where the body often becomes the messenger.
Your body is constantly communicating.
Sometimes it speaks softly like a feather.
Sometimes it has to turn up the volume, and it turns up as a brick.
When we have spent years overriding ourselves it might show up as a truck.
Now, we finally listen.
Your body is always trying to bring you home and the Mother Wound is not a life sentence, its a pattern.
And patterns can change.
The journey is not about becoming someone new.
It is about coming home to who you always were underneath the survival patterns to the real you that is worthy of all the blessings in the world
You are already adored.
The Universe loves you unconditionally.
You never need to earn your love.
It is already here in spades.
For years, I believed self-love was selfish.
That came from my parents and ancestors.
Self love was forbidden by the church I was born into.
I believed my value came from serving, helping and being useful.
And I became very, very good at giving.
But receiving?
That was a completely different story.
I had to uncover something much deeper: that I am worthy because I exist.
Not because I achieve, am helpful, or useful.
But simply because I am.
And so are you.
The healing journey is moving
From: “I need to become lovable.”
To: “I was always lovable.”
From: “I have to earn belonging.”
To: “I belong.”
From: “I must abandon myself to keep connection.”
To: “I can love others without leaving myself.”
This is the work of coming home to your true Self, to the Miracle that you already are.
If something in this blog touched a place inside you, reply and tell me what part resonated.
I read every message.
