First, let me introduce you to Maggie.
At 55, she came to me feeling restless and dissatisfied with life.
She spends hours scrolling through real estate listings, imagining a fresh start somewhere new.
Fifteen years ago, Maggie thought she had life all figured out—working part-time, raising her kids, and playing an active role in her community.
But now, with her children grown and the house quiet, she’s battling a void that she hopes a big change might fill.
And, then there’s 9-year-old Amelia.
Amelia is bright, happy, and full of energy, but every day she comes home from school with a new scratch, a torn uniform, or a fresh bruise.
She’s been diagnosed with ADHD, but her parents opted against medication since she concentrates well in class.
Despite her cheerful nature, Amelia’s constant collisions with her environment reveal something deeper.
What connects Maggie and Amelia?
They’re both struggling to fully inhabit their bodies.
Maggie’s restlessness and longing for external change are signs of her disconnection from her inner world.
She feels aimless and depressed, not realizing the key to fulfillment lies within herself.
Amelia, on the other hand, isn’t grounded in her body, causing her to frequently bump into things and hurt herself.
How often do YOU truly connect with your physical body?
If you already practice mindfulness, grounding and being present, you can ask yourself:
- What percentage of the time am I fully present in my body? Is it 10%? 30%? 80%?
- What situations make me jump out of my body?
Write down your answer without overthinking.
Did you know that as soon as you slip into worry, you disconnect from your body?
This is especially true for people with unhealed trauma.
Survivors often dissociate to escape painful memories, but this creates its own kind of suffering.
When you dissociate, you withdraw your awareness from your body and your daily life.
Yet, your presence is the greatest present you can give yourself.
When you bring your awareness—your light—into your body, something magical happens.
You begin to feel happy, calm, safe, less triggered, intuitive, fitter and healthier.
Your senses come alive, and you reconnect with the joy of simply being.
Conversely, the more you focus on the external world, the more anxious, depressed, overlooked, exhausted and unlucky you feel.
Disconnection makes you accident-prone and leaves you feeling like you’re missing something vital.
If your wounds run deep, you may need help to reconnect with your body.
This is where my healing and coaching sessions come in.
My mission is to guide you from a place of stuckness and suffering to one of rejuvenation and deep connection with your body and soul.
I know this journey intimately because I’ve walked it myself.
For years, I didn’t realize I was dissociating.
I operated in top gear, raising six kids, growing our food, juggling side hustles, and building my business.
I wore my productivity as a badge of honor, pushing through exhaustion and ignoring pain.
My body wasn’t my ally; it was a tool to keep me going.
Then, in 2006, everything stopped.
I was hit by a truck.
The impact shattered my body and my illusions.
I spent weeks at the Alfred Trauma Hospital in Melbourne, battling internal bleeding and enduring multiple surgeries.
The pain was overwhelming, but through it all, my body kept working to heal itself.
It was during this time of stillness and suffering that I had a profound realization:
My body is a genius, worthy of my love and respect.
For the first time, I truly paid attention to my body.
I began to feel compassion for it, recognizing it as a sacred vessel that allowed me to experience life.
Like many of my clients, I traced my disconnection back to childhood trauma.
Fear, shame, and traumatic experiences had taught me to view my body as a place of pain.
To cope, I dissociated, which I found very soothing.
But trauma, if left unaddressed, doesn’t go away. It manifests as illness, accidents, or burnout.
The truck was my wake-up call.
In those weeks when my life hung by a thread, I found an inner peace I’d never known.
My body became a source of wisdom and strength, no longer an enemy to control or fix.
Through my healing journey, I discovered two profound truths:
- Unconditional self-love is essential. Without it, we remain trapped in cycles of pain and disconnection.
- True healing begins when we are fully present in our bodies.
These truths have become the cornerstone of my work.
Healing isn’t a straight path.
It’s messy, raw, and filled with setbacks.
But every step brings you closer to the truth: you are not your pain, nor your trauma.
You are an infinite being with the power to heal and thrive.
And here’s the good news: you don’t need a “truck moment” to wake up.
If you feel disconnected, exhausted, or stuck, I’m here to help.
Are you ready to reconnect with your body and rediscover its wisdom?
